When it is time to choose the correct storage device for your company there area few factors to consider. Life expectancy of The HDD is longer when used for servers and long term storage based on the size of the drive and how data is saved. Even if a HDD fails there is a good chance of data recovery due to the mechanical nature of the drive. The finite life expectancy of a SSD is shorter based on how the memory is utilized how data is deleted over time. Over time the flash memory fails after a number of write and deletions. These failures can come suddenly and unexpectedly with a good chance of never being able to recover the data. SSD are making strides into the server world and in constant rotation storage drives in the form of enterprise SSD. Designed to be overwritten and read more often than standard SSDs, the downside is they are very expensive. Data from both drives can be successful removed when using the right tools. It comes down to how the storage device is to be used on which to choose for your company. Many companies go with both.
