DoD 5220.22-M ECE this Procedure to secure erase follows this method which does a 7-pass rewrite and wipe of the device to confirm all the data is non-recoverable.

NIST 800-88 Clear is a national institute standard clear that requires the removal of hidden drives if existing and then overwriting the data and verifying.

NSA 130-1 is apart of the national security agency this method has a 3 pass overwrite and overwrites with random character, and writes another random character as a known value it a process that is only completed after verifying everything is overwritten and gone.
